Software Engineer - Controls

Job Summary:

Focus on developing plant and control models for emerging vehicle variants such as battery electric, series and parallel hybrid, and fuel cell vehicles. Integrate models into advanced SIL simulations, correlate operation with prototype hardware, analyze full vehicle system operation in simulation, and work closely with a team to increase simulation efficiency by employing software automation.

Responsibilities
  • Develop electrical and mechanical plant and control models of vehicle subsystem components at various fidelity levels.
  • Tune/optimize/modify powertrain and chassis related plant models to achieve required behavior.
  • Integrate and configure models, interfaces, and simulation tools to create complete vehicle SIL simulations while adhering to interface standards.
  • Develop tests, analysis, and debugging methods for SIL simulation systems to ensure correct operation and assess fidelity.
  • Collaborate with HIL and Software Automation team members to increase efficiency of simulation tools and methods.
Qualifications

Required skills

  • 3+ years of experience utilizing models to develop and verify mixed hardware & embedded software systems.
  • 3+ years experience with Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow.
  • 3+ years programming background (C, C++, Python).

Preferred skills

  • 5+ years experience in automotive mechatronic simulation.
  • 3+ years combined version control and automation (Clear Case, Accu Rev, Git Hub, Jenkins).
  • Experience with embedded controls in electrified vehicle systems and driver assist technologies.
  • Hands‑on software testing and problem solving in simulation, HIL systems, and prototype vehicles.
  • Experience with CAN networks and tools (CANalyzer, CANape, ATI Vision).
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical analysis skills and ability to create new solutions.
  • Initiative, resilience, strong work ethic, and desire for continuous learning.
Education
  • Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, or Computer Engineering.
