Position: Electrical Grid Operations Analyst – OMS Support

Contract Duration: Contract through 05/28/2027 (High potential for extension)

Location: Jackson, MI & Grand Rapids, MI

Openings: 2 Positions (1 in Jackson, MI and 1 in Grand Rapids, MI)

Job Summary

CMS Energy is seeking motivated engineering professionals to support LVD Operations through outage analysis, OMS data quality management, and operational support activities. The selected candidates will play a key role in ensuring accurate outage reporting, system reliability, and restoration analysis while supporting daily operations and emergency response activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze outage events and perform OMS data quality corrections to support accurate outage, asset, and operational system information.
  • Identify, validate, and correct OMS data discrepancies impacting SAIDI and reliability metrics.
  • Maintain high standards of data integrity and operational awareness in support of LVD Operations.
  • Participate in dispatch and control room training to gain knowledge of distribution substations, lines, restoration processes, grid automation schemes, and storm operations.
  • Support storm restoration and emergency response activities, including overtime and travel as required.
  • Read and interpret complex prints, schematics, and system maps.
  • Collaborate effectively with operations teams and communicate across email, phone, and radio channels.
  • Perform additional operational and technical support duties as assigned.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision in both normal and emergency operating conditions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Basic understanding of departmental policies, operational procedures, and utility systems is preferred.
Additional Information
  • Positions involve support for regulated operational environments including NERC CIP and FERC-related systems.
  • Candidates may require access to cyber and physical operational assets.
  • Onshore positions with potential field and storm support responsibilities.
