IONETIX is seeking a Senior Production Radiochemist in Lansing, MI to develop and implement novel radiochemistry processes, cyclotron target technologies, isotope purification methods, and manufacturing operations. This role will serve as a subject matter expert in radio chemical production and support the commercialization of radioisotopes and radiopharmaceutical products while ensuring compliance with FDA, NRC, OSHA, DOT, and other applicable regulations.

Responsibilities- Serve as a key technical contributor in the design, development, and manufacturing of cyclotron targets for medical isotope production.
- Develop, optimize, validate, and implement novel radio chemical processing and purification methods.
- Lead technical transfer activities for radio chemical manufacturing processes under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
- Perform and oversee routine production of Ac-225, At-211, and other radioisotopes in accordance with approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Master Batch Records.
- Prepare quality control samples and support aseptic dispensing and manufacturing activities.
- Conduct scientific research to improve isotope yield, product quality, operational efficiency, and manufacturing scalability.
- Develop, author, review, and maintain SOPs, batch records, protocols, reports, and technical documentation.
- Ensure operations comply with FDA, NRC, OSHA, DOT, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in investigations, root cause analyses, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and validation activities.
- Manage procurement, inventory, qualification, and lifecycle management of raw materials and consumables used in isotope production.
- Maintain laboratory chemical inventories in accordance with regulatory and safety requirements.
- Support radioactive waste management and disposal programs under NRC regulations.
- Participate in radioactive material shipping and receiving compliance activities.
- Serve as a radiochemistry subject matter expert for internal teams and external partners.
- Train and mentor personnel on chemical, hazardous material, and radiation safety practices.
- Collaborate closely with scientific, engineering, quality, manufacturing, and operations teams to support product development and commercialization efforts.
- Evaluate scientific literature, emerging technologies, and industry best practices to advance Ionetix capabilities.
Master’s degree or higher in Radiochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or any related Chemical or Engineering field of study, plus at least three (3) years of experience or in any related position(s) through which the required experience was gained.
In lieu of the above‑stated primary education and experience requirements, the company will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Radiochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or any related Chemical or Engineering field of study, plus at least five (5) years of post‑degree, progressively responsible experience in any related position(s) through which the required experience was gained.
Qualified applicants must also have demonstratable proficiency, skill, experience, or knowledge with the following:
- Demonstrated experience with development of novel radiochemistry processes.
