Sr. Design Engineer - Food Equipment

Engineering Firm Position

Engineering firm involved in the design of spray dryers, evaporators, tower driers, box driers, vee-bottom box driers and related equipment for food and dairy processors throughout North America.

Work in the group involved in the design, development, commissioning and start-up of equipment and systems for food and dairy customers. Assist in developing technical sales presentations and proposals.

Specification and design of the equipment scope including the preparation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&), perform mass and heat balance calculations, prepare bid specifications, equipment design, sizing and specification including custom fabricated equipment and related processing equipment (i.e., pumps, blowers, fans and air heating equipment; valves, heat exchangers, instrumentation, etc.). Development of the functional description and operating manuals and the commissioning of the system.

Work closely with Process Engineering Director and General Manager in identifying new business opportunities by interfacing with potential new customers and maintaining existing key-customer relationships. Prepare technical sales presentations.

BS in Process Engineering or related field.

4+ years of experience in process engineering in food processing ideally some dairy.

Knowledge of vacuum evaporation and spray drying processes.

Experience in preparing PFD and P&, working with Solidworks and AutoCAD.

Proficient in thermodynamic system design and analysis. Design and calculation of vacuum evaporation and spray drying systems. Understanding of Sanitary standards.

Proficient in Microsoft 365.

Travel: 10-20%.
