Geotechnical Engineer - Detroit, Michigan

We are partnering with a well-established, employee‑owned engineering consultancy to support the growth of their geotechnical division in Detroit. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who wants to develop technically, gain exposure to a wide range of projects, and take a clear step forward in their career.

You'll be joining a respected geotechnical team focused on exploration and analysis, working on diverse and technically engaging projects while being supported with strong mentorship and career development.

What makes this opportunity stand out:
  • Exposure to a wide variety of geotechnical projects across multiple sectors, offering strong technical breadth
  • Clear progression pathways from staff to project‑level and beyond
  • A collaborative, low‑micromanagement environment that empowers engineers to take ownership of their work
  • Flexible working model (3 days in office, 2 days remote)
  • 100% employee‑owned business (ESOP) – all employees participate
  • Approximately 8% of your salary contributed annually into a retirement account through the ESOP
  • Strong focus on professional development, including support toward FE/PE progression
  • Opportunity to work closely with experienced leadership and gain hands‑on project exposure
The Role:
  • Perform geotechnical investigations, site explorations, and data analysis
  • Contribute to geotechnical reports, recommendations, and design input
  • Work closely with internal teams and clients on a range of ongoing projects
  • Support project delivery from initial investigation through to analysis and reporting
  • Develop technical expertise while gaining increasing responsibility on projects
What we're looking for:
  • 3-6+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering
  • Experience with site investigations and geotechnical analysis/reporting
  • FE (or working towards it) required; PE or close to completion is highly desirable for more senior candidates
  • Strong communication skills and a desire to grow technically

This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who wants more variety in their work, a clearer path to progression, and the chance to be part of a company where they can genuinely build long‑term value through ownership.

If you’re looking for a role that aligns with your long‑term growth and gives you exposure to more meaningful geotechnical work, this could be a great next step.
