Position: Environmental Engineer 9-P11/Licensed 12 - Surface Water Treatment Engineer

Environmental Engineer 9-P11

This position collaborates with a team of experienced engineers at EGLE to resolve complex issues. The surface water treatment engineer assists with performing sanitary surveys, surveillance visits, and reviewing plans, specifications, and permit applications for community water supplies which have treatment plants subject to the Surface Water Treatment Rules. The surface water treatment engineer also assists with reviewing monthly operation reports and serves as a contact for communities subject to the Surface Water Treatment Rules.

Examples of actual projects for this position include:

  • Planning and presenting surface water treatment training webinars for operators.
  • Reviewing the construction plans and specifications for a conventional water treatment plant rehabilitation project.
  • Helping operators develop tools to calculate daily water plant disinfection.
  • Helping operators identify, troubleshoot, and correct turbidity data anomalies.
  • Contributing to a team of professionals in charge of responding to water system emergencies.
Required

Education and Experience

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering.

Experience

Environmental Engineer 9:
No specific type or amount is required.

Environmental Engineer 10:
One year of professional environmental engineering experience in the protection and improvement of land and water resources, occupational health, or air quality equivalent to an Environmental Engineer 9.

Environmental Engineer P11:
Two years of professional environmental engineering experience in the protection and improvement of land and water resources, occupational health or air quality equivalent to an Environmental Engineer, including one year equivalent to Environmental Engineer 10.

Environmental Engineer Licensed Engineer 12:
Three years of professional environmental engineering experience in the protection and improvement of land and water resources, occupational health or air quality equivalent to an Environmental Engineer, including one year equivalent to an Environmental Engineer P11.

Additional Requirements and Information

NOTE:

Possession of a registered professional engineer license as required by the State of Michigan for the Environmental Engineer Licensed 12 level.
