Engineering Manager
Lansing, MI
Direct Hire | $130,000 Annual Salary
What You'll DoAs the Engineering Manager, you'll lead the engineering department while overseeing new program launches, manufacturing process development, APQP activities, and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll work closely with production, quality, maintenance, suppliers, and customers to deliver world-class manufacturing solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team
- Manage the APQP process from quotation through production launch
- Oversee new product launches and manufacturing process development
- Develop and maintain:
- Process Flow Charts
- Process FMEAs
- Control Plans
- Process Sheets
- Capability Studies
- Prototype Programs
- Feasibility Reviews
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and cross-functional teams
- Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Improve machine uptime, cycle times, tooling life, and overall production efficiency
- Reduce scrap and improve manufacturing quality
- Manage engineering projects while ensuring timelines and budgets are achieved
- Support supplier evaluations and tooling implementation
- Develop engineering procedures, standards, and best practices
- Coach and train engineers, technicians, and production support personnel
- Support customer product development and engineering changes
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred
- Engineering leadership experience within an automotive manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of:
- APQP
- PFMEA
- Control Plans
- Lean Manufacturing
- Manufacturing Process Development
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
- Experience managing multiple engineering projects in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
