The Transportation Planner reviews and approves environmental clearance documents for local agency transportation projects statewide, ensuring compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The position works with the Michigan Department of Transportation Local Agency Program and Environmental Services Section to coordinate the environmental clearance process, provide technical assistance, and support planning studies and NEPA activities.
Key qualifications- Bachelor's degree with at least 30 semester credits in planning, environmental studies, engineering, statistics, mathematics, geography, GIS, logistics, or economics
- Transportation Planner 9:
No specific experience required - Transportation Planner 10:
One year of professional experience in planning, mapping, or assessment of transportation, land use, environmental, or community systems - Transportation Planner P11:
Two years of professional experience equivalent to Transportation Planner level, including one year equivalent to Transportation Planner 10 - Official college transcripts required; foreign degrees must be evaluated by NACES or AICE-listed organizations
