I'm recruiting for an experienced Controls Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team that develops advanced machine tool control systems supporting high-volume manufacturing environments.
About the RoleThis is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys taking projects from concept through design, programming, startup, commissioning, and customer acceptance while working in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment.
Responsibilities- Lead the design of machine control systems that meet customer and engineering specifications
- Develop electrical control architectures with a focus on safety, reliability, simplicity, and cost effectiveness
- Program PLCs and machine controllers to meet operational and performance requirements
- Create and review electrical schematics, control layouts, and supporting documentation
- Coordinate design reviews with cross-functional engineering teams
- Manage project documentation, approvals, and engineering records
- Source electrical control components and support procurement activities
- Work closely with manufacturing teams during machine build, startup, and debugging phases
- Support equipment installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance activities
- Provide technical support to service, sales, and parts teams as required
- Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements to future machine designs
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Controls Engineering or a related field
- 5 to 7 years of controls engineering experience within machine tools, automation, or a related industry
- Strong experience designing and programming industrial control systems
- Working knowledge of:
- Fanuc PLCs
- Solid Works
- EPLAN and/or AutoCAD Electrical
- HMI software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based systems
- Experience supporting internal combustion engine, powertrain, or automotive manufacturing applications
Up to 5% Domestic Travel
