Packaging Engineer | Lansing, MI
Salary Range: $68,000 - $107,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities- Designs, develops, and tests packaging for new and existing products.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure packaging meets product, manufacturing, and customer requirements.
- Selects appropriate packaging materials and equipment, considering cost, quality, and sustainability.
- Conducts packaging performance testing to validate designs and ensure product protection.
- Optimizes packaging processes for efficiency, cost reduction, and waste minimization.
- Develops and maintains packaging specifications, standards, and documentation.
- Troubleshoots packaging-related issues on the production line and implements corrective actions.
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in packaging development or engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD) for package design and analysis.
- Demonstrated understanding of various packaging materials (e.g., plastics, paperboard, corrugated) and their applications.
- Experience with packaging line machinery, automation, and optimizing packaging processes for efficiency and cost.
- Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and quality control principles related to packaging.
- Experience with Solid Works or other CAD software for packaging design.
- ISTA certification or experience with packaging performance testing.
- Knowledge of sustainable packaging materials and practices (e.g., recyclability, compo stability, reduced waste).
- Familiarity with automation and robotics in packaging processes.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP) or demonstrated experience leading complex packaging initiatives.
