Primary Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the schedules and responsibilities of all Gaming Regulators.
  • Oversight/supervision of all Gaming Regulators and the NWCR Surveillance department.
  • Perform point of contact and LASSO duties as required for external regulatory bodies/agencies.
  • Examine NWCR policies, procedures, and practices to ensure compliance with gaming laws and regulations outlined in the LVD Gaming Ordinance, LVD Gaming Code and all other applicable federal, state and Tribal laws.
  • Communicate regularly and candidly with the Regulators; facilitate the Regulator’s role of ultimate oversight of strategic, policy, and operational matters, within the Tribal gaming regulatory sphere.
  • Oversee the protection of all assets of the NWCR.
  • Ensure fair play and the protection of the NWCR from infiltration by cheaters, money launderers, or other criminal enterprises.
  • Gather and process detailed personal information including fingerprints, employment history, criminal records and financial information to determine the status of a potential employee’s gaming license.
  • Contribute to the organization’s effectiveness by attending all Regulator meetings, offering information and opinion, as well as facilitating communication between Regulators and associated staff.
  • Ensure that the NWCR is maintained in a manner that adequately protects the environment and the health and safety of the public.
  • Stay abreast of changes to gaming laws and regulations affecting the management, operations, and product offerings of the establishment.
  • Coordinate with the LVD Tribal Council, Legal department and operating departments to ensure adherence to laws and regulations. Consult with and advise operating departments and directors affected by compliance issues and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide written reports to the LVD Tribal Council that contain findings and recommendations for improvements and changes in the gaming operations.
  • Ensure that all NWCR licensed employees follow the Tribal Gaming Code and that all tribal, civil, and criminal laws are enforced in coordination with LVD law enforcement, LVD Prosecutor and LVD Legal.
  • Present a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
  • Maintain departmental confidentiality requirements of all privileged information.

Skills & Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be an enrolled Lac Vieux Desert Tribal Member.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of gaming-related experience and/or training.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects, objectives and deadlines.
  • Must possess sound judgement and independent decision-making.
  • Must have knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation and basic arithmetic.
  • Must be able to pay close attention to detail, analyze problems, and identify solutions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, applicants, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be proficient with software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Must be able to pass all applicable background checks and pre-employment obligations.
  • Must be available to travel and attend continuing education related to the scope of this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Public Administration, Legal Studies, or related field.
  • 5-10 years gaming regulatory/ gaming operations experience with five years in management level capacity, or equivalent…
