does a Senior Commercial Operations Specialist do?

The Senior Commercial Loan Operations Specialist at Mercantile Bank plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our loan servicing department in Comstock Park, MI. In addition to the core responsibilities of verifying and inputting loans into our core processing system, you will be instrumental in training colleagues on advanced functions and writing detailed procedural documentation. Your expertise will help maintain data integrity, allowing the bank to track and verify loans efficiently while ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations.

You will manage daily reports, calculate payment and interest figures, and assist with the processing of higher‑risk transactions. You will also help with higher seasonal volumes such as Commercial Escrow processing and year‑end reporting, as well as review collateral releases for errors. Your keen eye for detail will identify trends and risks, helping to minimize potential issues for both the bank and its clients.

As part of a high‑performing team, you’ll contribute to creating and modifying operational procedures, enhancing efficiency, and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
