Senior Accountant / Finance Lead
Location:
Detroit, MI (Hybrid – 4 Days On-Site)
Salary Range: $90,000 – $100,000/year

We’re seeking a hands‑on Senior Accountant/Finance Lead to own and manage day‑to‑day accounting operations while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and strong financial discipline across the organization.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly in the details, taking full ownership of financial processes, and operating in a lean, fast‑paced environment. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining the financial health of the business while partnering closely with leadership on reporting and process improvements.
Core Responsibilities- Own the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-, quarter-, and year-end close processes
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor setup, invoicing, and ensure timely payments
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and expense activity
- Maintain all accounting activity within Quick Books
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements with accuracy and timeliness
- Support leadership with reporting, variance analysis, and financial insights
- Assist with audit preparation and related documentation
- Support payroll processing and employee onboarding/offboarding from a financial perspective
- Manage 1099 filings and assist with benefits coordination and insurance renewals
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements
- Support external audits and ongoing financial reporting needs
- Proficiency in Quick Books is required
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial operations
- Strong experience in hands‑on accounting roles (not just oversight)
- Prior experience in small to mid‑sized or lean organizations preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting fundamentals
- Advanced Excel skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
