The Accountant II will be a member of Ally's Regulatory Reporting team which is a part of Ally's Controller's Team. The position will play a critical role in preparation and submissions of required regulatory filings. Under general supervision, the position will be primarily focused on preparation and analysis of regulatory reports to ensure accurate and timely filings as well as assisting key business partners in understanding reporting requirements.
The role provides the opportunity to gain exposure to different business partners and stakeholders of the company, develop a greater understanding of the regulatory reporting processes and requirements and develop a stronger understanding of Ally's business results.

The Work Itself- Responsible for preparing and analyzing assigned regulatory reports and schedules including performing analytical procedures to ensure reports are accurate and in compliance with required regulations.
- Work with multiple business lines to gain an understanding of the business activities and reporting processes.
- Partner with business line personnel to educate them on regulatory reporting requirements and provide guidance on implementation of any new or revised requirements.
- Coordinate with SEC reporting team and other internal reporting teams to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with business units and other regulatory reporting team members to improve processes and efficiencies.
- Review, update, and maintain procedures and process documentation for assigned schedules.
- Work with internal and external auditors and other compliance functions, as directed.
- Participate in special projects as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1+ years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA (or equivalent) obtained or in pursuit.
- 1+ year of work experience in Accounting or related field with general accounting and/or functional skills for area of expertise.
- Advanced MS Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.) and MS Office Suite experience.
- Workday General Ledger experience.
- Exhibit a strong work ethic and high degree of self-motivation.
- Must possess good communication skills.
- Must possess strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks and work within deadlines.
- Ability to organize data, perform independent analysis, and provide explanations/conclusions to management.
- Ability to work with limited supervision while applying previous experience to execute moderately complex tasks.
- Ability to contribute meaningfully to projects.
- Comfortable interacting with other personnel in group or support staff from other departments; may interact with other internal and external personnel (e.g., external auditors, regulators) on specific projects or routine matters, usually under supervision.
