Financial Advisor / Consultant, Wealth Management
FinancialMD is a financial planning firm built exclusively for physicians. We work with doctors at every stage — from residency and fellowship through attending practice and beyond — helping them navigate the financial decisions that come with a demanding medical career: student loan strategy, contract and compensation reviews, disability and life insurance, tax planning, investing, and long-term wealth building. We speak the language of medicine, we understand the physician career arc, and we build plans around it.
The RoleWe're hiring a Lead Advisor to own and deepen relationships across our physician client base and to lead the delivery of advice for our physician market. This is a senior, client-facing role for an advisor who wants to do the best planning work of their career with a focused, high-income niche — and to help shape how a growing firm serves it.
You'll be the primary advisor for a book of physician households, responsible for the quality of their financial plans and the strength of their relationship with FinancialMD. You'll also help raise the bar across the team — mentoring junior advisors, refining our planning process, and helping grow the physician practice.
- Serve as the lead advisor for physician clients — residents, fellows, and attendings — owning the relationship end to end.
- Build and deliver comprehensive financial plans tailored to physicians: student loan strategy, cash flow, insurance, tax-aware investing, retirement, and practice/partnership decisions.
- Lead client meetings and advice delivery, translating complex financial concepts into clear, actionable guidance doctors can act on.
- Mentor and develop junior advisors, sharing your process and elevating the quality of advice across the team.
- Help grow the physician practice — deepening existing relationships, supporting referrals, and contributing to how we bring on and serve new physician clients.
- Partner with firm leadership to refine planning standards, service models, and the overall client experience.
- CFP strongly preferred, and/or Series 65 (or IAR-qualifying credential) to provide investment advice through an RIA.
- Several years of hands-on financial advisory experience in a client-facing, planning-led role.
- A track record of owning client relationships and delivering comprehensive financial plans.
- Experience working with physicians, high-income, or high-net-worth clients is a strong plus.
- Strong communication skills — the ability to make complex topics clear and to build trust with busy, discerning professionals.
- A mentorship mindset and interest in helping build a growing practice.
- Comfort with a hybrid schedule, eventually working from our Michigan office 3-4 days per week.
You'll work with a client base you can genuinely serve well — physicians who value real planning and long-term relationships — inside a firm that's focused, specialized, and growing. This is a chance to lead the advice for a market you can become the go-to expert in, mentor the next generation of advisors, and help shape the future of the practice.
Compensation: $3,000/month draw against commission, with estimated first-year earnings of $60,000–$80,000. This is a commission-based role with uncapped earning potential.
FinancialMD is an equal opportunity employer.
