Position: Departmental Analyst 9-12 – Legislative Affairs

Position Overview

Departmental Analyst 9-P11 (E Level) This position functions as a legislative analyst in the Legislative Affairs Division. It analyzes standard legislative requests that do not hold a significant financial impact on the department or involve controversial legislation. Responsibilities include research, coordination, and drafting of legislative analysis for proposed or introduced legislation.

Departmental Analyst 12 (A level) This senior level analyst provides legislative and policy support to the MDHHS Legislative Affairs Division. Responsibilities include performing complex research and analysis assignments that are politically sensitive, monitoring legislative activities, writing bill analyses, conducting in‑depth research on complex policy issues, tracking timely submission of legislative reports, and attending legislative meetings and hearings on behalf of MDHHS.

Required

Education and Experience

Education Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major.

Experience

  • Departmental Analyst 9 No specific type or amount is required.
  • Departmental Analyst 10 One year of professional experience.
  • Departmental Analyst 11 Two years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
  • Departmental Analyst 12 Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.
Location & Work Arrangement

The physical location of this position is 333 S Grand Lansing MI. Remote work and alternate or hybrid work schedule requests may be considered. Selected candidates approved for remote work must complete that work within Michigan.

Employees will be provided computers. Phones may also be provided. If working remotely, employees will be responsible for providing a secure work location, a high‑speed internet connection of at least 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload, suitable lighting, furniture, and utilities.
