Job Overview

This position functions as a student assistant to the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) performing a variety of duties as needed by MGCB staff. Duties include data entry and populating information databases; providing general office assistance and support to management and staff; creating Excel spreadsheets and Word documents; preparing rooms for meetings and performing special projects as needed.

MGCB is a state agency dedicated to ensuring the conduct of fair and honest gaming. Duties include:

• Data entry and populating information databases

• Education: Current enrollment in high school, vocational or technical school, or post‑secondary educational institution.
• Experience: No specific type or amount is required.
• Student Assistants must provide evidence of enrollment or acceptance to an educational institution.

The Board conducts a personal reference screening, criminal background check, drug testing, federal and state tax transcript, including fingerprinting candidates prior to a conditional offer of employment. A reference check from your current or most recent supervisor is required; please include this information on your application.

Civil Service Rule 2‑7 requires that all persons who are not currently state employees submit to and pass a pre‑employment drug test within 24 hours of a conditional offer or the offer may be rescinded. Failure to provide a sufficient sample within the allotted time is considered a refusal to test. Under Civil Service Regulation 3.06, you may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan if you make any false statements or omissions of a material fact during the selection process.
