Position: Regulation Agent 9-P11 - Security Investigator

The Michigan Lottery is looking for a dependable, honest, motivated, and hardworking individual with a positive attitude and strong ethical standards to join our team!

The Michigan Lottery was established under the authority of Public Act 239 of 1972 to generate funds to support Michigan’s public-school system. It generates revenue through the sale of lottery tickets at retail locations and over the internet. Profits from lottery revenue are used to supplement state education programs.

The Lottery Security and Investigation Section is responsible for investigating violations of state laws, administrative rules, policies, and procedures involving the lottery and its various programs, services, facilities, and personnel. This position handles all facets of lottery security investigations, including investigating crimes or administrative violations against the lottery, protecting physical security of bureau offices and products, inspecting and analyzing vendors and suppliers for compliance with contract specifications, monitoring lottery operations to ensure integrity of games and programs, and interacting with federal, state, and local criminal justice agencies that may be involved in inquiries related to the lottery.

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience
  • No specific type or amount is required for a Regulation Agent 9.
  • One year of professional experience providing regulation and investigative services equivalent to a Regulation Agent 9 is required for a Regulation Agent 10.
  • Two years of professional experience providing regulation and investigative services equivalent to a Regulation Agent 10, including one year equivalent to a Regulation Agent 10, is required for a Regulation Agent P11.
  • For a Regulation Agent 9 position, two years of experience in a criminal justice agency, corporate security setting, or the United States Armed Services providing investigative services as an investigator or sworn detective may substitute for the education and experience requirements.
  • For a Regulation Agent 10 position, three years of experience in a criminal justice agency, corporate security setting, or the United States Armed Services providing investigative services as an investigator or sworn detective may substitute for the education and experience requirements.
  • For a Regulation Agent P11 position, four years of experience in a criminal justice agency, corporate security setting, or the United States Armed Services providing investigative services as an investigator or sworn detective may substitute for the education and experience requirements.

To be considered for this position, you must submit to the following initial background check requirement(s). In accordance with Civil Service Regulation 2.07, you may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan, permanently or for up to three years, should you fail to pass or submit to the pre‑employment drug test. Under Civil Service Regulation 3.06, you may be sanctioned from applying to positions with the State of Michigan if you make any false statements or omissions of a material fact during the selection process.

All persons who are not currently state employees must submit to and pass a pre‑employment drug test. This urine sample test must be administered within 24 hours, or your offer may be rescinded. An applicant must remain at the testing site until the testing process is completed and may be permitted up to three hours to provide a sufficient specimen.

Positions within the Bureau of State Lottery will require a criminal history background check.
