Overview
The Property Services Division provides support to the State Tax Commission in administering the General Property Tax Act. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of functions that support assessor administration throughout the State of Michigan.
Responsibilities- Research, analyze, and provide guidance on all aspects of local property tax and assessment administration, including taxable value calculations, transfers of ownership, disabled veteran exemptions, land value calculations, Economic Condition Factor (ECF) development, and the determination of true cash value.
- Support the State Average Tax Rate analysis and the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILT) program.
- Coordinate the State Assessed Property roll.
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.
- Property Analyst 9:
No specific type or amount of experience is required. - Property Analyst 10:
One year of professional experience in real estate equivalent to a Property Analyst 9. - Property Analyst P11:
Two years of professional experience in real estate equivalent to a Property Analyst, including one year equivalent to a Property Analyst 10.
Note:
A position is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree. Qualifying 'professional experience' is only taken into consideration post-bachelor's degree.
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active‑duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement. For those applicants with military service, please provide your DD214 or other official military documentation that may help identify transferable skills and experience that may qualify in lieu of the required education.

Certification as a Michigan Certified Assessing Officer (MCAO), Michigan Advanced Assessing Officer (MAAO), or Michigan Master Assessing Officer (MMAO) with the equivalent of one‑year full‑time experience (post MCAO) as a Michigan Assessing Officer. - Property Analyst 10:
Certification as a Michigan Advanced Assessing Officer (MAAO) or Michigan Master Assessing Officer (MMAO) with the equivalent of two‑years full‑time experience (post MCAO) as a Michigan Assessing Officer. - Property Analyst P11:
Certification as a Michigan Advanced Assessing Officer (MAAO) or Michigan Master Assessing Officer (MMAO) with the equivalent of three‑years full‑time experience (post MCAO) as a Michigan Assessing Officer.

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position prior to being appointed. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
Hybrid Remote Work:
