Position Overview
This position works with the section manager in the Specialty Trades Section to enforce the Skilled Trades Regulation Act of 2016 PA 407, the Elevator Licensing Act of 1976 PA 333, the Elevator Safety Board Act of 1967 PA 227, the Ski Area Safety Act of 1962 PA 199, and the Carnival – Amusement Safety Act of 1966 PA 225, as well as associated administrative rules.
Responsibilities include reviewing and analyzing safety tests, correction orders, and routine violations to determine compliance with statute, rules, and department policy; monitoring and tracking inspector levels, workloads, and area assignments for ski, amusement, boiler, and elevator inspectors; scheduling overtime and special inspections; and assisting in the adoption of new laws, rules, and standards. The role also involves preparing and updating procedures and forms for staff inspections, answering code questions, providing backup for the review of permits, and developing licensing examinations.
- Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree in any major. Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and at least two years of full‑time active‑duty experience at or above the E‑6 level in uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.
- Experience: Departmental Analyst 9 – no specific type or amount is required.
- Departmental Analyst 10 – one year of professional experience.
- Departmental Analyst 11 – two years of professional experience, including one year equivalent to the intermediate (10) level in state service.
