Adjunct Instructor – Intro to Health Professions & Medical Terminology

Responsibilities

Teach didactic courses in Intro to Health Professions (CHSE 100) and/or Medical Terminology (CHSE 120). Deliver instruction in a traditional in‑person setting on LCC’s downtown Lansing campus, with the potential for East campus, clinical sites, or online assignments. Collaborate with senior faculty, department coordinators, and the Program Director to develop course content aligned with official syllabi and industry standards. Duties include planning and preparing course materials, delivering instruction, assessing and grading students, and providing academic support outside of class.

Additional responsibilities may include participation in course assessment, department and program meetings, advisory board meetings, professional development activities, and other duties as needed.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in a healthcare field from a regionally accredited college or university (or higher).
  • Demonstrated significant clinical experience in the healthcare field.
  • Ability to use a variety of teaching methodologies, including online strategies.
  • Commitment to diversity and effective teamwork in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in working with a diverse population and as a member of a team.
  • Must be a resident of the State of Michigan and perform work within the state.
  • Must submit unofficial transcripts for all degrees and completed coursework.
  • Subject to criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Leadership, or a health career discipline.
  • Current credential in a healthcare field (e.g., Phlebotomy Technician, Pharmacy Technician, EKG Technician, Nurse Aide, CMA/RMA, RN, MIBC).
  • Teaching experience at the college or community college level.
  • Experience working with high school students.
  • Experience with course management systems (Desire2

    Learn, Canvas, Blackboard, Angel, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Workload Limits

Fall / Spring – up to 12 workload hours including preparation, assessment, and student consultation. Summer – up to 10 workload hours including preparation, assessment, and student consultation. Total effort cannot exceed 30 clock hours per week or 1,560 clock hours per academic year.

Other Information

Regular on‑campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any approved flexible or hybrid schedules may be adjusted based on community needs.
