Knitting​/Sewing Helper

What You’ll Be Doing

Working alongside our staff, you will support our residents to more fully-participate in knitting and sewing projects. The role will involve:

• setting-up group activities
• encouraging residents to attend activities
• offering gentle guidance with knitting/sewing tasks
• engaging socially with residents
• packing-up resources

If you are an avid knitter and/or sewer and enjoy helping others with similar interests, we would love to hear from you!

Knitting and sewing are more than just hobbies - they are meaningful, therapeutic activities that boost wellbeing, support dexterity and cognition and give purpose. Side‑by‑side crafting creates conversation and a sense of belonging.

You will experience the joy of seeing residents’ confidence grow, one stich at a time. Through regular ongoing visits, you will establish wonderful new friendships with residents, staff and the volunteer team.

Friendly, patient and sociable. Comfortable with assisting older adults. As this is a new activity, the role will require flexibility and adaptability whilst establishing residents’ wants and needs.
