Position: Patient Registration Rep - Emergency Department - Part-Time - Days

Overview

Join the Emergency Department team at Henry Ford Hospital as a Patient Registration Representative, where you’ll play a vital role in supporting patients and visitors. Following standard operating procedures, you’ll manage patient reception, face-to-face check-ins, pre-registration, insurance eligibility confirmation, and cash collections. This position is key to creating a welcoming and efficient experience for all who enter the Emergency Department.

Responsibilities
  • Manage patient reception and face-to-face check-ins in the Emergency Department.
  • Perform pre-registration, verify insurance eligibility, and assist with cash collections.
  • Handle new patient registration and update patient records as needed.
  • Address inquiries with professionalism and compassion; advocate for patients to ensure their needs are met.
  • Provide exceptional service to patients, visitors, and clinical/non-clinical staff across in-person, telephone, and written communications.
  • Instruct others as needed and adapt to a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
Education/Experience Required
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • One (1) year of experience related to patient admitting, registration, and/or insurance eligibility and verification in a hospital or medical office setting preferred.
  • EPIC training/experience preferred.
  • Insurance payor systems experience preferred.
  • ICD-10 medical terminology experience preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities, standards, and behaviors effectively over the telephone, in person and in writing with patients, visitors and clinical/non-clinical staff.
  • Must be willing and able to instruct others.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
