Trinity Health Grand Rapids Hospital is excited to welcome talented individuals to our Nutrition Services Team Lead position.
Position SummaryThe Nutrition Services Team Lead provides daily leadership and operational oversight for nutrition services staff within a hospital setting. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality meal services that meet patient dietary requirements, food safety standards, regulatory guidelines, and customer service expectations. The Team Lead coordinates staff assignments, supports patient satisfaction initiatives, and assists with department performance goals.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Staff Supervision- Lead, coach, and support Nutrition Services staff during assigned shifts.
- Assign daily work duties and monitor staff performance.
- Provide training and orientation for new team members.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and excellent customer service.
- Assist management with performance evaluations and corrective actions as needed.
- Serve as the department point person in the absence of management.
- Ensure accurate meal delivery according to physician orders and prescribed diets.
- Collaborate with Registered Dietitians and clinical staff to address patient nutritional needs.
- Resolve patient meal concerns and service issues promptly.
- Monitor tray assembly and distribution for accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee daily food service operations, including meal preparation, assembly, delivery, and sanitation.
- Monitor staffing levels and workflow to maintain operational efficiency.
- Ensure inventory supplies are stocked and available.
- Assist with scheduling and staffing adjustments as needed.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, infection prevention standards, OSHA requirements, and hospital policies.
- Conduct routine inspections of food production and service areas.
- Monitor proper food handling, storage, temperature controls, and sanitation practices.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives.
- Complete required departmental documentation and reports.
- Track productivity and service metrics.
- Communicate operational updates to management and team members.
- Participate in department meetings and training programs.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition, Hospitality, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in food service, healthcare nutrition services, or hospital dining operations.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
Minimum 80 hours per pay period.
Primary 12 pm to 8:30 pm shift with flexible shifts as needed; every other weekend; rotating holidays.
