Responsibilities
- Under the direction of the Reimbursement Supervisor, responsible for the billing and accounting for revenues generated in accounts receivable for the agency. Duties include updating accounts on the computer system; monitoring accounts for problems, errors, or delinquencies and resolving appropriately; obtaining and following up for authorizations; answering questions from consumers, staff, insurance companies, third party payers, and other provider agencies; and carrying out all activities of the department in a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.
- Possession of a High school diploma or GED is required.
- One year experience billing third party insurance and first party private insurance using an automated billing system is required.
- Experience includes: fee-for-service Medicaid billing, Medicare Part B billing, commercial insurance for medical billing, follow-up with rejections, monitoring accounts receivable claims, fee statements, monitoring spend downs, and proficiency with the full Microsoft Office Suite; and the monthly billing process.
- Strong knowledge of medical billing processes, payer rules, and reimbursement methodologies, including Medicaid/Medicare and commercial insurance.
- Understanding of accounts receivable management, payment posting, and reconciliation procedures.
- Familiarity with payer rejections, denials management, and claims resubmission processes.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR), practice management systems, and billing software.
- Ability to pass a Microsoft Word and Excel exam with a proficient score.
- Working knowledge of Windows-based spreadsheets.
- Proficiency in using CPT, DSM-5, and ICD-10 coding.
- Ability to analyze a large amount of data and make decisions accordingly.
- Ability to enter large amounts of data into the computer system with speed and accuracy.
- Ability to complete assignments within structured timelines.
- Employment offers are contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure including:
Michigan State Police clearance check, educational background check, and verification of acceptable work history. - Must be able to pass a pre-employment 5-panel drug screen.
Starting salary $20.19– $22.54 per hour, 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
This will be a hybrid position, remote with one day in the office.
