Residential Technician CSDD​/Howell

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of the Residential Services Coordinator, Community Services for the Developmentally Disabled, assist in the personal care and treatment of individuals with severe and persistent mental illness residing in a residential setting or supported independent living setting.
• Implement skill acquisition and understand the stages of change and substance use disorders as they relate to each individual’s plan of service, with a goal of helping individuals be as independent as possible.
• Act as a resource and referral for residents to meet their needs.
• Typical duties include supporting mental illness symptoms management, training and assisting residents in daily living skills such as medication management, personal care, interpersonal communication skills, cleaning, meal preparation and laundry, de-escalation skills, maintaining required documentation, and assisting residents in participation in community activities.
• Attend mandatory team meetings and in-service training sessions.

• Possession of a High School diploma or GED is required.
• Must receive and maintain certification in Department of Community Health Group Home Skill Training.
• Must be able to understand written instructions and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
• Must be able to read and follow medication charts.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed (Therapeutic Options A & Therapeutic Option B on an Emergency basis); must be physically able to perform lifting and transferring of physically impaired individuals according to agency policies/procedures.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job-related use is required.

• Offer is contingent upon the results of a criminal background check (including fingerprinting), a physical exam, and verification of an acceptable Michigan driving record.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen; must be able to pass a physical exam annually.
