The Front Desk Attendant is a part-time, on-site role based in Lansing, MI, responsible for serving as the first point of contact for guests. Day-to-day tasks include greeting guests, checking them in and out, managing reservations, and handling payment transactions with accuracy and care.
The role also involves answering phones, responding to guest inquiries, providing local information, and coordinating with housekeeping and maintenance to meet guest needs. The Front Desk Attendant maintains a clean and organized front desk area, completes basic clerical and administrative tasks, and follows hotel policies and safety procedures.
This position requires a consistent professional demeanor, reliable attendance, and a strong commitment to delivering courteous, efficient service.
Qualifications- Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and courteously with guests and colleagues.
- Proficiency in receptionist duties, including handling check-ins/check-outs, managing reservations, and assisting guests with inquiries.
- Effective phone etiquette and the ability to manage multiple calls while maintaining clear, courteous communication.
- Basic clerical skills such as data entry, document handling, and organizing guest records and front desk materials.
- Ability to use hotel management or reservation systems; comfort with basic computer applications (email, spreadsheets, and word processing).
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent; prior front desk, hotel, or customer-facing experience is preferred but not required. Training is provided.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks related to front desk operations.
