Director Of Workforce Development
Based in Lansing, MI, Turning Leaf Behavioral Health Services is a dynamic and growing healthcare organization that operates a CARF-accredited continuum of community based residential programs throughout Michigan. Our programs are outcome based and designed to provide person-centered support to individuals living with a mental health diagnosis or intellectual and developmental disability. The Director of Workforce Development serves as the leader of the healthcare organization's workforce and leadership team, responsible for overseeing the operationalization of data-driven strategies related to the recruitment, engagement, retention, and compensation of a 300+ person team.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring regulatory and accreditation compliance, supporting staff and organizational development, and fostering a culturally competent and trauma-informed culture of inclusiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
Forecast staffing needs and oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts. Manage employee benefit administration (Medical, Dental/Vision, 401(k), AFLAC, etc.), including enrollments, waivers, and coordination with benefit representatives. Maintain and track employee data through databases, spreadsheets, and other HR systems to ensure accuracy and compliance. Oversee employee file management, ensuring confidentiality and regulatory compliance. Manage Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) claims and documentation.
Monitor and update HR policies, procedures, and the Employee Handbook in accordance with licensing, contractual, and accreditation standards. Collaborate with the Business Services Manager on payroll-related processes, including employee status changes, overtime, turnover tracking, and compensation reviews. Lead initiatives that strengthen organizational culture and support employee engagement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university required and a Master's degree in relevant fields are preferred 3–5 years of related HR experience required; equivalent education and experience will be considered. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification highly preferred. Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and publishing/graphics software. Strong multitasking and time management skills with attention to detail.
Proven leadership and decision-making ability with a hands-on approach. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain professional relationships at all levels. Occasional travel may be required. Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 – $ per year
