Bill Watts at Robert Half is in search of directly hiring a skilled Payroll Administrator to join our Tier 1 Automotive Supplier client located in Troy, Michigan. The role primarily involves managing payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, and providing excellent service to our team members. This is a unique opportunity to work in the automotive manufacturing sector, utilizing a range of skills in payroll systems such as Ceridian.
Overview: As a Payroll Specialist with expertise in Ceridian software, you will be responsible for managing and processing payroll for a large, high-volume workforce. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. You will play a critical role in maintaining payroll compliance, addressing employee inquiries, and optimizing payroll processes.
Key Responsibilities High-Volume Payroll Processing- Process payroll for a large number of employees using Ceridian software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Manage bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll cycles, including calculating wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and other changes.
- Ensure accurate data entry and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive payroll information.
- Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax with holdings, garnishments, and other deductions.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, W-2s, and other required reports to regulatory agencies.
- Address and resolve payroll discrepancies, errors, and employee inquiries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Collaborate with HR, finance, and other departments to troubleshoot and resolve payroll-related issues.
- Utilize Ceridian software to its full potential, identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay updated on software updates and new features to continuously improve payroll processing.
- Coordinate payroll-related aspects of employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other deductions.
- Ensure accurate calculation and deduction of benefits from employee paychecks.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll records to ensure accuracy, compliance, and integrity.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard payroll data and processes.
- Provide training and support to HR and finance staff on payroll processes and Ceridian software.
- Assist in the development of payroll-related training materials and documentation.
- Several years of experience in payroll processing, with specific experience using Ceridian software.
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
- Ceridian payroll software experience mandatory.
- Experience managing payroll for a high-volume workforce.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
