Dykema Gossett, PLLC, a leading national law firm, is recruiting for a Legislative Coordinator for our office in Lansing, Michigan. Under the direction of the Office Administrator, the Legislative Coordinator provides administrative assistance to Government Policy Advisors and Attorneys, drafting correspondence, scheduling meetings, preparing legislative summaries and analyses, and assisting with document production. The role also opens client files, runs conflict checks, attends committee meetings and hearings, and performs various other administrative duties such as filing, note‑taking, maintaining calendars, and more.
Responsibilities- Coordinate calendars and schedule meetings for legislative matters.
- Draft and edit documents, run conflict checks, prepare screening forms, set up engagement letters, and order legal files.
- Assist with preparation of reports regarding Campaign Finance and Lobbying Act compliance matters.
- Conduct legal research and prepare legislative histories on statutes enacted by the Michigan Legislature.
- Review introduced legislation to assess impact to current legislative clients; prepare weekly legislative docket for clients.
- Assist with coordination of legislative receptions and other events for the firm and its clients.
- Assist with preparation of responses to requests for proposals regarding state legislative strategies and lobbying services.
- Attend legislative committee and state departmental hearings, assess impact of written and oral testimony presentations, and prepare reports of hearing activities for clients.
- Deliver deposits and other related bank documents to local banks.
- Assist Compliance Team with data entry, payroll and IRS filings.
- Perform other tasks as requested.
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, or related field and/or at least one year of professional experience in legislative policy, regulatory affairs, or government relations.
- Effective communication, strong interpersonal and writing skills.
- High degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Excellent time‑management skills; detail‑oriented; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and work well under deadline pressure.
- Takes initiative, self‑motivated, and exercises good judgment.
- Technologically savvy, with high‑level proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A strong team orientation, collegial demeanor, and a willingness to do what is needed to accomplish team goals.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends if requested.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word;
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. - Detail‑oriented and team‑player behaviors.
- 3+ years of general office/administrative experience.

The offered salary will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, work location, individual skill set, previous/applicable experience, education, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
