Career Development Administrator

The Career Development Administrator is responsible for coordinating and administering development programs that support employee growth, talent, and organizational workforce readiness. This position oversees apprenticeship and bargaining unit progression programs, succession planning, mentoring, career development initiatives, student and workforce development programs, and employee engagement activities. The role serves as the subject matter expert for Workday Talent and Peakon, coordinates workforce development committees and community partnerships, supports grant and compliance requirements, and develops communications and resources that enhance the employee experience while advancing organizational talent strategies.

Essential functions include:

  • Leading and supporting JALC, JTTC, and workforce development committee operations.
  • Administering registered apprenticeship programs.
  • Administering bargaining unit progression programs.
  • Administering the organization's succession planning process.
  • Administering the employee mentoring program.
  • Providing career planning support.
  • Leading and managing the 1st STEP student program and job shadowing initiative.
  • Leading and coordinating employee engagement initiatives.
  • Organizing workforce development events and community outreach initiatives.
  • Serving as the subject matter expert for Workday Talent and Peakon.
  • Developing and distributing workforce development communications.
  • Maintaining SharePoint sites, tracking tools, reports, compliance documentation, and operational records.
  • Maintaining knowledge of industry trends and best practices related to workforce development, apprenticeship, employee progression, and employee engagement programs.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Education, Communications, or related field (or equivalent related experience).
  • Typically obtained through three (3) years of experience in program coordination, workforce development, apprenticeship administration, event coordination, employee engagement, or related experience.
  • Experience supporting committee coordination, compliance documentation, tracking systems, or workforce development initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and operational coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees, leadership, bargaining unit representatives, students, educational partners, and community organizations.
  • Experience coordinating meetings, events, training sessions, workforce development initiatives, or committee activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
