Scion Steel is seeking an experienced, organized, and people-focused Human Resources Generalist to join
our team.
This is a hands-on, on-site position for an HR professional who is comfortable working independently,
supporting employees and management, and handling a broad range of Human Resources responsibilities in a
fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities Employee Relations & HR Support- Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and management regarding policies, benefits, attendance, workplace concerns, and other HR matters.
- Respond to employee questions and concerns professionally, promptly, and confidentially.
- Assist management with employee relations issues, conflict resolution, counseling, corrective actions, and disciplinary documentation.
- Conduct or assist with workplace investigations involving employee complaints, policy violations, harassment concerns, and other employee-relations matters.
- Assist managers with performance management, performance reviews, and performance improvement plans.
- Promote consistent application of company policies and procedures.
- Post and maintain job openings.
- Review applications, screen candidates, and communicate with prospective employees.
- Coordinate interviews and assist managers throughout the hiring process.
- Participate in recruiting events and other efforts to attract qualified candidates.
- Maintain accurate records of job openings, applicants, and recruiting activity.
- Prepare and process new-hire documentation.
- Coordinate new employee orientation and onboarding.
- Ensure new employees receive the information, policies, benefit information, and documentation necessary to successfully begin their employment.
- Assist employees with benefit enrollment, changes, and benefit-related questions.
- Support the administration of company benefit programs.
- Coordinate and maintain documentation for FMLA, disability, personal leaves, accommodations, and other applicable leaves of absence.
- Track leave status and assist with return-to-work documentation and communication.
- Create, maintain, and safeguard accurate and confidential employee records.
- Maintain electronic personnel files and HR documentation.
- Enter and maintain accurate employee information in the company's HR systems.
- Support electronic onboarding, benefits, employee records, and other paperless HR processes.
- Ensure required documentation is complete, current, and properly retained.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Assist with HR audits, compliance reviews, required reporting, and recordkeeping.
- Assist with reviewing, updating, communicating, and administering company policies and the employee handbook.
- Help ensure employment practices and HR procedures are consistently followed throughout the organization.
- Monitor employee attendance and absenteeism.
- Assist supervisors and management with attendance-related issues and documentation.
- Maintain appropriate records regarding attendance, performance, counseling, and corrective action.
- Coordinate employee training and maintain training records.
- Track completion of required company and compliance-related training.
- Assist management in identifying employee training and development needs.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate company parties, employee events, celebrations, and other employee
- Coordinate employee recognition programs, service awards, milestone celebrations, and company sponsored activities.
- Assist with company meetings and employee communications as needed.
- Help promote employee morale, engagement, and a positive workplace culture.
- Assist with workers' compensation claims, injury documentation, and employee follow-up.
- Coordinate return-to-work documentation as needed.
- Work with management and safety personnel to maintain required employee and workplace documentation.
- Assist with applicable OSHA and workplace injury recordkeeping requirements.
- Coordinate employee separations and termination documentation.
- Process required paperwork and benefit notifications.
- Conduct or assist with exit interviews when appropriate.
- Ensure company records and HR systems are properly updated following an employee's separation.
