Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer III to support a large enterprise environment on a 6‑month engagement
. This role requires strong documentation expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to mentor teams in documentation standards and accessibility best practices.

This is a hybrid role
, requiring onsite presence two days per week (Wednesdays and Thursdays).

Local candidates are strongly preferred; non‑local candidates must be willing to relocate at their own expense and begin onsite from day one.

Only W2 employment
no C2C candidates will be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with project teams to create, update, and maintain high‑quality technical documentation.
  • Mentor and guide teams on documentation standards and best practices.
  • Develop and deliver training materials to support standardization efforts.
  • Review existing documentation for compliance with defined standards and identify/prioritize gaps.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with ADA WCAG 2.1 AA requirements

  • Utilize accessibility tools such as Microsoft Accessibility Checker and Adobe Accessibility Checker.
  • Communicate clearly—both verbally and in writing—to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across work products.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of general technical writing experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience mentoring teams and implementing documentation standards, including building and delivering related training.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience reviewing existing documentation and documenting/prioritizing gaps.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with documentation requiring an ADA WCAG 2.1 AA focus.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience using accessibility tools (e.g., Microsoft Accessibility Checker, Adobe Accessibility Checker).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to work onsite two days per week; no remote‑only option.
  • Must be available for both a 1st‑round virtual interview and a 2nd‑round in‑person interview
    .
  • Local candidates strongly preferred; non‑local candidates must relocate at their own expense.
  • Duration: 6 months+
  • Work Type: Hybrid (onsite Wednesdays & Thursdays from day
    1) in Lansing, Michigan.

    Required:

Compensation

Codeworks discloses that the anticipated hourly pay range for this position is between $22.00 and $38.00
. This range is subject to change based on job‑related factors, including client requirements where applicable. All full‑time Codeworks employees are eligible to enroll in the company’s medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
