Job Description

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services including Information Technology project delivery, maintenance, and support. This position is within the Agency Services area of DTMB and serves as an IT Business Analyst for high priority assignments and projects supporting the Michigan Department of Corrections.

This IT Business Analyst collaborates with MDOC clients to develop requirements, analyze data in support of projects, make recommendations for process and business flows, and develop consensus on both business and system requirements. They serve as the primary contact to champion the needs of the client and ensure adherence to DTMB IT standards throughout.

The position will take on a lead role in completing activities associated with Request for Proposals (RFP), estimating costs to complete projects, establishing action plans, completing impact analysis, and implementing test strategies.

Sign‑on bonus of up to $2,500 may be available: up to $1,250 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the 12‑month probationary period. Current state employees are excluded.

The office location is Lansing, MI. This position requires relocation if you are an out‑of‑state applicant. DTMB offers a hybrid work option requiring two days on site and three days remote per week.

Education: Possession of a Bachelor’s degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management, or mathematics.

Experience: Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11.

Possession of an associate’s degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

Or educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may also substitute for the education requirement.
