Job Description
Our IT Security Division seeks a motivated individual to join as an IT Security Engineer. The role focuses on reducing IT Security risk and responding to incidents for the company and its affiliates. The position requires initial in‑person training and offers up to three work‑from‑home days per week, with the ability to work at the Lansing or Grand Rapids, Michigan offices as needed.
Responsibilities- Cultivate an environment of IT security compliance by enforcing corporate policies and facilitating corporate practices to uphold confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our infrastructure.
- Comprehend, write, and maintain department procedures and documentation.
- Administer, upgrade, and troubleshoot security products and applications.
- Research and recommend mitigation controls for cybersecurity risks in alignment with company and industry best practices.
- Monitor and advise on IT security issues related to the company’s and affiliates’ systems to ensure internal controls are operating as intended.
- Four‑year college degree in Information Security, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (preferred). Candidates without a four‑year degree but with several years of relevant experience may be considered.
- Strong initiative, motivation, and ability to communicate current cybersecurity threats and their relevance to the company.
- Knowledge or ability to learn security engineering, server security, network security, cloud security, AI security, authentication methods, encryption protocols, and application security.
- Proficiency with security tools and development techniques required for the role.
- Analytical mindset, attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, and effective communication.
- Documenting concepts and skills for future reference and participation in meetings.
