OverviewLocation:
Lansing, Michigan area (within 90 miles). This is a hybrid role with on-site requirements on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; remote options on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Candidates must be local at time of submission.
Working hours:
Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The UI/UX Analyst is responsible for establishing the overall application look and feel as well as designing, communicating, and executing all user interface screens for each business requirement. The UI/UX Analyst directs the overall design and user experience for the delivered product. This role works closely with the Business Analyst and Technical Lead in the delivery of solutions that meet or exceed customer requirements.
Responsibilities- Responsible for understanding project scope and working with the project team to ensure understanding of the requirements, functionality, size, scalability, and usability of the IT solution within the objectives set for the project.
- Adhere to the project schedule while working with Business Analyst to examine existing business processes and systems to develop a full representation of the system’s interface design and usability by the business.
- Work with User Acceptance Test (UAT) testers and conduct usability testing to ensure conformance with UI/UX best practices.
- Appropriate resolution of critical IT issues as it pertains to the UI/UX role.
- Participate in all requirement gathering meetings and brainstorm sessions with business owners to identify product usability concerns and desires.
- Conduct user interviews, research, observations and testing; develop personas, user flows/journey maps and storyboards as needed.
- Facilitate regular design meetings during application development.
- Examine and analyze current user flows, pain points, and desires from a usability and visual standpoint to deliver proper solutions.
- Lead the overall visual design, usability and accessibility of the product.
- Provide expertise and lead the project team through design patterns, screen layout decisions, and usability testing.
- Advocate for the end user to improve the overall design and usability of the delivered product, within budget.
- Create sketches, wireframes, and mockups of UI screens according to requirements/story requirements that adhere to State of Michigan (SOM) Applications and Site Standards as well as ADA requirements.
- Create high-fidelity functioning prototypes when applicable/feasible.
- Review wireframes with the Business Analyst for business requirements and with Technical Lead for technical feasibility before presenting wireframe solutions to the business.
- Provide resources (checklists and toolsets) to assist the development team regarding UI/UX best practices, established coding standards, and ADA vulnerability remediation.
- Ensure conformance to the SOM Applications and Site Standards.
- Perform accessibility testing to ensure conformance to ADA requirements.
- Create and facilitate usability tests with the intended users of the product and iterate screen designs accordingly.
- Advise developers on accessibility requirements and vulnerability remediation.
- Serve as liaison to DTMB Center for Shared Solutions (CSS) eMichigan team.
- 3-5 years:
Experience in user interface (UI) design - Experience conducting user research
- Degree or certification in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, User Interface Design, or a related field
- Portfolio submission required to demonstrate design skills and project experience
- 2-3 professional references required
- Experience designing in alignment with established design standards
- Knowledge of WCAG guidelines and experience designing for accessibility
- Experience conducting usability testing
- Experience performing accessibility (ADA) testing
- Bachelor's Degree
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; we are unable to offer sponsor ships at this time
- Must undergo a background check and drug screening for employment
- This is a W2 position
- Hybrid schedule (Non-Negotiable):
There is no remote-only option. Required onsite days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Remote eligible days are Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The resource must meet these requirements from the beginning.
