Position: Information Technology Programmer/Analyst 12 -Senior Application Developer

About DTMB

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

About This Position

As a Senior front end Application Developer, the employee performs a complete range of information system analyst assignments including, but not limited to, designing, developing, testing, and implementing computer systems and applications for the Department of Technology, Management and Budget supporting the Agency Services of the Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) Vocational Rehabilitation. This position serves as a technical resource responsible for development activities and works with other development and support staff to enhance the capabilities and stability, improve performance, and ensure reliable functionality of the web applications.

The Senior Application Developer is expected to provide technical support to other team members and evaluate new development tools and agency systems, leading less experienced application developers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and develop applications using Microsoft Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, Azure Dev Ops, Git Version Control, Agile Methodology, and other software as required.
  • Write code in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Type Script, XML, JSON, C#, ASP.NET, SQL, Selenium, and Web Services.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to design, test, and deploy web solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide mentorship to junior developers.
Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management, or mathematics.

Experience:

Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11.

Alternate

Education and Experience:

Possession of an associate’s degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant; or high school completion and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or eight thousand three hundred twenty hours as an Information Technology Student Assistant.

Requirements

Position Location

This position is located in Lansing, MI. The position may work a hybrid schedule with two days required in the office per week. Selected candidates must complete work within Michigan.

Signing Bonus

This position may be eligible for a sign‑on bonus up to $2,500. Up to $1,250 may be paid upon new hire and the remainder after completing the initial 12‑month probationary period. The bonus does not apply to current state employees.
