Loss Control Consultant; state of Michigan

Summary

Under limited supervision and with significant independent judgment inspects insured properties to evaluate physical and operational conditions and promote safety programs by performing the following duties.

• Inspect physical properties and operations (such as buildings, industrial operations, vehicles, and products or services provided) to evaluate physical conditions and operational, safety practices, and hazardous situations.
• Observe business operations and management practices to determine safety issues and hazards affecting insurance premiums and losses.
• Prepare written report of findings and recommendations for correction of unsafe conditions.
• Develops recommendations to correct uncontrolled exposures, including acceptable alternatives.
• Consult with insureds to control losses and improve safety.
• Develop, implement, and monitor safety activities and programs, in conjunction with the insured, to control losses and improve safety.
• Provide verbal and technical advice to assist in compliance (e.g. written, e-mail, or CD copies of programs or training materials for them to use.)
• May provide leadership to junior staff by assigning tasks, training and providing guidance. May provide input to management regarding junior staff performance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Candidates must reside within the state of Michigan.

A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
