Senior Loss Control Consultant

About the Role

Donegal Insurance Group has an opening for a Senior Loss Control Consultant on our Commercial Lines team in the Midwest region. This field‑based position is responsible for providing risk management and loss control services to our insureds, gathering critical risk assessment information to support underwriting, and evaluating exposures across a variety of accounts to deliver data‑driven recommendations to reduce risks. Preferred candidates will reside in the Greater Lansing, Michigan area.

Ideal candidates must be able to administer training, provide safety program guidance, and effectively present findings in written and oral formats. They will review reports for quality and issue recommendations. Work includes prospective assessments, new business assessments, and tasks in a defined territory to meet customer and internal requirements.

• Conduct field visits, complete on‑site and remote risk surveys, manage internal report reviews, and ensure recommendation compliance and issuance.
• Collect objective data on various accounts and supply meaningful risk information to the underwriter in conformance with applicable codes and regulations.
• Meet with the insured, associated agents, and establish effective working relationships.
• Provide property and casualty service plan development, implementation, and execution that drives effective risk reduction.
• Consult with market partners (Underwriting and distribution) to provide additional account feedback and communicate high‑hazard exposures.
• Ensure that risk surveys and reports are informative and clearly show potential risk factors.
• Prioritize and manage work assignments to deliver reports on prebind assessments, new business, renewals, and Large Account Service Program items per turnaround standards.
• Maintain all professional designations/certifications required for the territory served for loss‑control services.
• Adhere to all Loss Control Department guidelines and consult with the department manager on various accounts.
• Demonstrate a professional positive image to insureds, agents, and internal stakeholders.
• Have a valid driver’s license.
• Overnight travel may be required up to 30% of the time.

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Safety Management, Risk Management or related field.
• Demonstration of self‑development by working toward attainment of professional insurance designations (CSP, CIH, PE, CPCU, etc.).
• At least 7 years of property/casualty insurance experience, including a minimum of 3 years as a loss‑control representative.
• Successful risk‑reduction service planning and execution with associated customers.

Starting Pay:
The pay range for this position is $96,000 to $120,000 annually. The specific offer will vary based on your education, qualifications, professional experience, skills, abilities, and any applicable designations or certifications. The base pay is just one component of Donegal’s total compensation package. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
