Land Use​/Zoning Associate Attorney

A well-established Michigan law firm with a strong Real Estate and Public Law practice is seeking a Land Use & Zoning Attorney to join its team. This role may be based in any of the firms Michigan offices, depending on candidate preference.

The group represents municipalities, developers, and privately-held businesses in shaping meaningful development projects throughout Michigan. Work involves land use approvals, zoning matters, development strategy, and coordinated representation on projects that often have long-term community impact. The firm's real estate and municipal teams collaborate closely, offering consistent cross-practice support and shared institutional knowledge.

The attorney in this position will take an active part in guiding development projects from concept to approval.

Responsibilities include:

• Advising on zoning and land use strategy
• Appearing before planning commissions, zoning boards, and other administrative bodies
• Drafting and negotiating development-related agreements and associated real estate documents
• Conducting due diligence on land use, title, and regulatory considerations
• Working with planners, engineers, and consultants to move projects forward efficiently

• 3+ years of experience in land use, zoning, municipal, or real estate matters
• Strong research, writing, and presentation skills
• Comfort working directly with clients and public decision-making bodies
