A well-established Michigan law firm with a strong Real Estate and Public Law practice is seeking a Land Use & Zoning Attorney to join its team. This role may be based in any of the firms Michigan offices, depending on candidate preference.
About the PracticeThe group represents municipalities, developers, and privately-held businesses in shaping meaningful development projects throughout Michigan. Work involves land use approvals, zoning matters, development strategy, and coordinated representation on projects that often have long-term community impact. The firm's real estate and municipal teams collaborate closely, offering consistent cross-practice support and shared institutional knowledge.
The RoleThe attorney in this position will take an active part in guiding development projects from concept to approval.
Responsibilities include:
- Advising on zoning and land use strategy
- Appearing before planning commissions, zoning boards, and other administrative bodies
- Drafting and negotiating development-related agreements and associated real estate documents
- Conducting due diligence on land use, title, and regulatory considerations
- Working with planners, engineers, and consultants to move projects forward efficiently
The role is well-suited for someone who enjoys balancing practical problem-solving with public-facing advocacy.
