Job SummaryUnder direction of the Facilities Team Lead, the Facilities Maintenance Worker is responsible for the up-keep, preventative maintenance, and custodial duties of all agency buildings and grounds. This includes but is not limited to:
Agency vehicles, physical plant, and physical plant equipment.
- Supports Mission, Vision and values of agency.
- Acts as a role model within and outside the agency.
- Works in partnership with fellow team members.
- Is sensitive to cultural diversity of clients served.
- Is responsive to internal and external customers.
- Forges mutually respectful partnerships with persons served and their families to assist them in gaining skills and confidence to address the problems and issues they face.
- Sets limits and maintains the helping role of the practitioner and intervenes appropriately to meet the needs of the persons or family members served.
- Believes in the capacity of people to grow and change.
- Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Identifies, logs and performs and/or coordinates routine preventative maintenance including interior, exterior, mechanical and other equipment.
- Identifies, and performs and/or coordinates building maintenance including but not limited to structural repairs, cosmetic repairs, equipment, and furniture repairs.
- Troubleshoots maintenance incidents as they arise and performs immediate response to ensure safety and limit further damage / deterioration.
- Completes and/or coordinates the maintenance work of agency vehicles.
- Ensures proper routine vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance are completed as well as comprehensive logging.
- Ensures all agency vehicles are safe for operation.
- Identifies tools and supplies necessary to perform duties.
- Coordinates, and keeps current a tool and equipment inventory.
- Maintains SDS materials as outlined by the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Act; standards and regulations.
- Safely handles, labels, stores, and stocks cleaning supplies and chemicals.
- Handles and disposes of bio-hazardous waste in compliance with the Ingham County Health Department Bureau of Environmental Health; standards and regulations.
- Performs routine monthly, maintenance, safety and fire safety system inspections as outlined by the Michigan Catholic Conference-Self-Inspections program.
- Identifies and coordinates proper grounds upkeep.
- Identifies and resolves safety and cleanliness issues as they arise.
- Assists with donations; storage, pick up and dissemination as needed.
- Coordinates set-up, take down, and clean-up of agency events.
- Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Assists with other agency programs when assigned by the Facilities Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend meetings and trainings as required.
- To be the first in line to be called for mechanical, HVAC, vehicle, and safety issues for the agency. After this communication to be able to complete critical issue repairs or facilitate and/or oversee vendor support repairs in a timely manner.
Possesses a High School diploma or equivalent.
Proficient in spreadsheet and database software, valid Michigan Driver’s License, maintains a driving record within the agency limitation standards.
A minimum of three to five years performance of maintenance functions in a large facility, including mechanical, HVAC, and other equipment, cosmetic, structural and preventative maintenance.
- Possesses a skill set and willingness to provide basic repairs to agency mechanical, HVAC, major appliance, key and lock systems, and only utilizing vendor assistance when authorized by the STVCC Facilities Director.
- Emotionally able to work with information that may be traumatic in nature, as well as, work with individuals or families in crisis or experiencing trauma.
- Ability to stand and/or walk up to 8 hours per shift.
- Work involves talking, stooping, squatting, twisting, climbing, kneeling, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
