Overview
Nexstar Media, Inc., America’s largest local broadcasting company, is seeking an experienced television professional to serve as Vice President/General Manager to oversee its media properties in Lansing, Michigan (DMA #113). The Vice President/General Manager will have full oversight over Nexstar’s operations of WLNS (CBS) and will oversee its operational agreements with Mission Broadcasting providing services to WLAJ (ABC/CW), as well as and all other digital, mobile, and social media assets for the stations.
Responsibilities- Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for all Nexstar properties in Lansing, including WLNS and related digital platforms.
- Oversee operational agreements with Mission Broadcasting for services to WLAJ (ABC/CW) and manage relationships with digital, mobile, and social assets for the stations.
- Lead and develop broadcast operations teams across sales, news, and other departments to drive efficiencies, collaboration, and growth.
- Drive local content creation for multiple platforms (OTT, linear, web, social) to enhance audience engagement and expand reach.
- Develop and implement advanced digital advertising solutions and new business initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative culture among station departments and promote teamwork across all areas of station operations.
- Manage a duopoly environment and ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
- Minimum of five years of broadcast management experience at a commercial broadcast television station with accompanying digital assets.
- Strong background in leading broadcast operational teams within sales-driven organizations and a proven track record of managing high-performing sales and news teams.
- Experience creating locally originated content for multiple platforms (OTT, linear, web, social) and driving audience engagement.
- Excellent strategic vision, execution skills, and ability to engage local community leaders and key clients.
- Ability to collaborate with department heads, staff, and promote teamwork across all station operations.
