Position: Part 135 Director of Aircraft Maintenance

Part 135 Director of Aircraft Maintenance

STS Technical Services is hiring a Part 135 Director of Aircraft Maintenance in Waterford, Michigan. This is a direct-hire leadership opportunity supporting a corporate aviation organization with a fleet of Part 135 and Part 91 aircraft.

This role is responsible for overseeing maintenance control activities, ensuring FAA compliance, improving operational efficiency and leading the maintenance program across a diverse turbine aircraft fleet.

Position Overview

The Director of Aircraft Maintenance will provide strategic leadership to Maintenance Control, Planning and Quality Assurance teams while serving as the primary maintenance authority for the operation.

This position is ideal for an experienced aviation maintenance leader with deep Part 135 knowledge, strong regulatory understanding and the ability to manage people, budgets, aircraft availability and maintenance performance in a high-level corporate aviation environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all Maintenance Control functions for Part 135 and Part 91 operations
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable FAA regulations, company policies and industry best practices
  • Oversee aircraft maintenance programs, inspections, Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletins
  • Supervise Maintenance Controllers, Maintenance Planning personnel and Quality Assurance staff
  • Develop and execute maintenance strategies that maximize aircraft availability and operational reliability
  • Manage vendor relationships and maintenance service providers to ensure quality, cost effectiveness and timely repairs
  • Assist with development, tracking and management of annual aircraft maintenance budgets
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to improve operational and financial performance
  • Establish departmental goals, policies, procedures and performance standards
  • Recruit, train, mentor and evaluate maintenance personnel
  • Foster a culture centered on safety, compliance, teamwork and continuous improvement
  • Ensure accurate electronic maintenance records and documentation are maintained
  • Participate in strategic planning initiatives and departmental growth objectives
  • Respond to operational issues, maintenance events, incidents and irregular operations as required
  • Provide executive-level reporting regarding maintenance performance, compliance metrics and operational readiness
Required Qualifications
  • Extensive maintenance leadership experience supporting Part 135 multi-engine turbine aircraft operations
  • Meets the experience requirements outlined in 14 CFR Part 119.69
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, maintenance programs and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Proven leadership and personnel management experience
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasting, scheduling and maintenance planning
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and aviation maintenance software platforms
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CAMP, Corridor, CMP, Traxxall, FL3XX, SharePoint or similar maintenance tracking systems
  • Experience with electronic maintenance recordkeeping systems
  • Previous experience leading maintenance operations for a managed aircraft fleet
