Job SummaryCabot Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Manager to join the Carbon Silica Technologies Business Operations team at the Midland, MI location. The role oversees the maintenance department and capital projects, ensuring safe, cost‑effective asset utilization and compliance with Cabot policies and statutory regulations.
Responsibilities- Implement maintenance projects and procedures within budget and on schedule.
- Improve mechanical integrity programs.
- Coordinate site turnaround initiatives.
- Achieve maximum output capacity, enhance plant efficiency, and maintain minimum operational cost.
- Manage the Maintenance group activities to ensure safe, cost-effective asset utilization supported by added‑value investment and regulatory compliance.
- Develop and maintain a program for site improvements, introduce new technology, and manage the execution of a capital expenditures and maintenance plan to ensure work is completed to a high standard in accordance with customer and project objectives.
- Develop and manage a work order system and preventative and predictive maintenance plan; monitor and analyze equipment performance to improve efficiency.
- Ensure the quality of spare parts and services purchased; manage suppliers and contractors, conduct vendor assessments, and enforce compliance with Cabot safety and site procedures.
- Participate actively in maintenance and capital budget preparation and cost‑expenditure forecasting; review forecasts regularly to assure appropriate spending.
- Ensure maximum plant availability through reliability principles and optimal asset management; maintain optimal manning levels.
- Practice Performance‑Based Management by coaching and developing employees, ensuring alignment with matrix functions.
- Support implementation and maintenance of the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the RC14001® technical specification.
- Lead and develop a team of craft and maintenance employees.
- Bachelor’s or university degree preferred, focus in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years in Maintenance and/or Reliability Engineering roles in a manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience (developing and managing team members).
- Safety leadership experience.
- Knowledge of Reliability‑Centered Maintenance systems preferred.
- Proven ability to manage and develop budget.
- Knowledge in confined space entry, lockout/tagout, hot‑work permits.
