The Global Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for developing, leading, and executing EQI’s global EHS strategy to ensure a safe, compliant, and sustainable working environment across all operations in the USA, Canada, China, India, and Northern Ireland.

This role champions a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards. The Global EHS Manager partners with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to drive risk reduction, standardization, and operational excellence across a geographically diverse organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global EHS strategy aligned with EQI’s business objectives
  • Provide leadership and direction to the EHS Council and site-level stakeholders
  • Establish standardized global policies, procedures, and performance expectations
  • Promote a proactive, behavior-based safety culture across all regions
Safety Culture & Risk Management
  • Lead company-wide initiatives to achieve an injury-free workplace
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate EHS risks across global operations and supply chain partners
  • Implement and sustain behavior-based safety and leading indicator programs
  • Ensure integration of EHS considerations into operational and strategic decision-making
Training & Compliance
  • Develop and oversee global EHS training programs to ensure workforce competency and compliance
  • Ensure all locations comply with applicable local, regional, and international regulations
  • Maintain and continuously improve corporate EHS policies and management systems
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely organizational alignment
Incident Management & Performance Analytics
  • Lead global incident reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis processes
  • Ensure effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented and sustained
  • Develop, track, and report EHS KPIs, including leading and lagging indicators
  • Provide regular performance updates and insights to executive leadership
Environmental & Regulatory Oversight
  • Oversee environmental compliance programs, including permits, reporting, and sustainability initiatives
  • Monitor chemical exposure and ensure compliance with OSHA and global equivalents
  • Support facility and equipment implementations with necessary EHS permits and risk assessments
  • Serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies and external auditors
Audit & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead internal and external EHS audits across global locations and key suppliers
  • Identify gaps and drive corrective action plans to closure
  • Benchmark best practices and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support integration of EHS requirements in new business, suppliers, and acquisitions
Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, HR, and Supply Chain teams to embed EHS into all processes
  • Influence and support global supplier EHS performance and expectations
  • Drive alignment and communication across multiple regions, cultures, and regulatory environments

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or related discipline
  • 10+ years of progressive EHS experience, including multi-site or global scope
  • Proven success in implementing and managing EHS management systems and cultural transformation initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of global EHS regulations and standards
  • Experience leading audits, investigations, and regulatory interactions
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to work independently and lead in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (15–30%)
Preferred
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or equivalent
  • Experience in metal casting, machining, industrial painting, fabrication, or manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with materials such as gray iron, ductile iron, steel, and aluminum
