Job Responsibilities

Position Summary
:
Provides expert technical and financial leadership in coordinating, facilitating, motivating, and directing efforts of cross‑functional program teams. Ensures efficient use of team resources and is responsible for the total design and program, overall technical and financial performance during the launch phase. Develops and achieves program objectives in cost, quality, delivery and ensures countermeasures are initiated to correct unfavorable variances per Program Management Processes (PMP).

Works with internal and external resources to maintain strong customer relationships and participates in continuous improvement efforts. Performs other duties and may supervise or provide work direction to other staff.

Key Functions & Responsibilities
:

  • Level III – Responsible for all aspects of assigned programs, which are complex and require independent problem solving with general guidance from corporate strategy.
  • Level IV – Manages many large and complex programs encompassing millions of dollars in potential revenue, driving implementation of enhancements to products, processes, and programs that impact cost, quality, or delivery.
  • Responsible for overall program technical and financial issues.
  • Provides expert technical and financial leadership in coordinating, facilitating, motivating, and directing efforts of cross‑functional program teams, including individuals from Engineering, Sales, Product Development, Quality, Purchasing, and Manufacturing.
  • Gains support for and develops program objectives/deliverables; ensures full team participation and that all groups understand the demands for a successful launch.
  • Ensures customer and company requirements are met and maximizes program profitability throughout the launch.
  • Communicates issues and responsibilities within the company and to customers; documents and cascades technical and financial objectives to each functional area.
  • Maintains strong customer relationships and demonstrates expertise in all customer systems as required to support launch programs.
  • Initiates countermeasures to correct unfavorable variances and communicates alternative measures to customers.
  • Documents and monitors program objectives per PMP through open issue lists, milestone reviews, and launch readiness reviews.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts of PDP/PMP processes to support world‑class launches.
  • Performs other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of goals, and supervises or provides direction to staff.
Qualifications, Education & Experience

Level III

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of six years experience in the automotive industry.
  • Demonstrated superior leadership abilities in managing multiple programs to meet goals in quality, cost, and delivery from concept through launch.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills to prioritize, coordinate projects, and manage conflicting needs based on large sales volume or strategic importance.
  • Ability to work on long‑term assignments, broad in nature, using a high level of originality and ingenuity, and develop long‑term technical strategies to meet future business needs.
  • Financial skills to prepare budgets and understand financial aspects of program deliverables, quote new business, etc.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others through support and training toward departmental goals.
  • Skill in thoroughly researching, recommending, and overseeing the implementation of new products, materials, processes, etc., and presenting information to support world‑class product launches.

Level IV – Additional Requirements

  • Minimum ten years experience in engineering or project/program management or equivalent, with complete mastery of the respective field.
