This position manages the Vital Records Internal Control Unit within Michigan's Department of Health and Human Services, overseeing the processing of birth, death, and divorce record changes, corrections, and delayed record establishment. The manager directs staff, reviews documentation for eligibility determinations, develops policies and procedures, ensures confidentiality compliance, and oversees fraud detection and prevention in vital records services. The role also includes launching Central Issuance to local jurisdictions for issuing state-certified birth certificates, managing training, billing, and audits for this expansion.
Keyqualifications
- Bachelor's degree in any major
- Four years of professional experience, including two years at experienced (P11) level or one year at advanced (12) level
- Knowledge of vital records laws, rules, policies and procedures
- Experience with internal control procedures and fraud detection
- Ability to manage complex policy development and staff oversight
