The Maintenance Technician repairs and maintains manufacturing equipment and tools, physical plants, and buildings.

• Starts equipment to test their performance.
• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Dismantles and repairs mechanical and electrical devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
• Inspects parts to determine salvageability or method of repairing or reworking parts.
• Prepares and operates metal-working tools such as engine lathes, milling, drilling, grinding, polishing, and buffing machines to repair parts.
• Files, taps, reams, bends, straightens, or uses other methods to recondition parts using hand tools.
• Verifies dimensions and tolerances using blueprints, scales, and precision measuring instruments.
• Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straight edges.
• Lubricates and cleans parts.
• Maintains preventative maintenance records for machinery and equipment.
• Maintains physical plants and buildings.
• Recommends contract repair personnel.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5-10 years’ experience as a manufacturing maintenance mechanic.

• Must be proficient in using hand tools and the company-owned maintenance equipment to perform the duties of the job while working under minimal supervision.
• Must be able to read mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical drawings.
