Mechanical Technician

This role focuses on sanding, buffing, and detailing automotive surfaces to achieve a high-gloss, mirror-like finish on specialized vehicles. You will use hand and power tools to prepare and finish components as part of a larger mechanical assembly process in a production environment.

• Sand automotive and metal surfaces to remove imperfections and prepare them for finishing.
• Buff painted and finished surfaces to achieve a high-gloss, mirror-like appearance.
• Use power tools such as angle grinders, drills, screw guns, and other equipment to support mechanical assembly and finishing tasks.
• Operate hand tools safely and effectively for sanding, buffing, and assembly work.
• Follow detailed instructions and production specifications to ensure consistent quality and adherence to standards.
• Measure materials and components accurately using a tape measure.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment to meet production goals and deadlines.
• Communicate professionally with coworkers and supervisors to clarify tasks and resolve issues.
• Perform frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and ladder climbing as needed for access to work areas.
• Lift and move materials and components weighing up to 40 pounds as part of daily tasks.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and equipment with care.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with mechanical equipment and power tools.

• Mechanical aptitude with experience in a production or mechanical environment.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure to precise measurements, with at least 2 years of experience.
• Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools such as drills, screw guns, and caulk guns, with at least 2 years of experience.
• Experience with sanding and buffing surfaces, ideally in automotive paint or auto body detailing.
• Ability to use power tools, including angle grinders, for sanding and surface preparation.
• Capability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with others.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to follow directions professionally.
• Physical ability to perform frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and climbing ladders.
• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI.

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $19.50 per hour.

This is a fully onsite position in Lansing, MI.
