SHIFT

LAN - Shift 2 ($1.50) (United States of America - Michigan)

A BRIEF OVERVIEW

The Operations Technician, Metal Finisher, Polishing I, uses conventional polishing and belting equipment for the specific belting and/or polishing operations based on engineering drawings and customer specifications.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate grinding equipment in cell, including cut off wheel, buffing wheel, belt grinder, etc.
  • Inspect and remove defects such as cracks, belt marks, dings & dents, etc.
  • Inspect parts using gaging to determine areas that lie outside of specifications.
  • Use inspection tools and gages, e.g., overlay, calipers, Go/No-go Gages, micrometers, Height Gages, and OC (Optical Comparators) as required.
  • Manufacture parts to manufacturing prints or customer prints.
  • Complete required router information.
  • Perform housekeeping per 6S schedule.
  • Support quality and compliance by adhering to all procedures, work instructions, and forms per the Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Perform other duties as required or directed by the Department Supervisor or Lead.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Or Equivalent (Preferred)
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 1-year experience working in a manufacturing or mechanical environment
KNOWLEDGE,

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to process information with high levels of accuracy and learn from mistakes to apply lessons learned in the future.
  • Good hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to apply logic and reasoning to solve problems, including identifying strengths/weaknesses, locating alternative solutions and conclusions, and approaches to problems; and making high-quality, timely decisions.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
  • Must adhere to Company Code of Conduct and Core Values.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Constantly reaches and grabs objects.
  • Constantly handles and feels objects.
  • Constantly applies pressure to objects.
  • Constantly operates tools such as fixtures, jigs, and hammers.
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Constantly visually inspects objects for defects.
  • Must be able to remain in a standing position at least 80% of the time
  • Occasional long working hours including overtime as required.
  • Corrected vision of no less than 20/20, required.
  • Work performed in manufacturing environment where exposure to a number of elements occurs.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as determined for the position.
